Lunar Notes: Mars, Uranus, and Algol Conjunction

It has been a master class on a Mars, Uranus, and Algol conjunction. In this edition of Lunar Notes, I’m adjusting the format. Rather than a chronological play-by-play, I will loosen up and jam on some of my thoughts on the astrology surrounding this period.

Caput Algol, also known as Demon Star or Medusa's Head, is a complex fixed star in Taurus. It can symbolize violence, destruction, recklessness, and loss of control. It's linked to beheading and a disconnect from reason. It can represent facing your fears and a connection to primal energy. Due to its binary system, the star's blinking nature adds to its mystery and potentiality for disruptive influence. Even if you approach this star with optimism, the expectation is violence, and violence it was.

Malefic and disruptive conjunctions served as the astrological backdrop to an assassination attempt on a former president on July 13th. Donald Trump was literally inches from losing his head. He suffered a clip on the ear, and gained a photo op. Lets review:

  • Uranus: This is the planet of rebellion and disruption. It wants to break free from limitations and shake things up.

  • Algol: Traditionally associated with violence, loss, and chaos, but also with facing your demons, and therefore courage. It can also act as a protector and a reminder to stand up for what's right, like a warrior’s shield featuring the image of Medusa’s head.

  • Mars in detriment: Mars may have passionate energy focused on building something tangible, but it does not have access to resources here, save for other planets it is connected to. It may crave security and stability but can be stubborn and possessive.

This set trines Pluto in Aquarius, assisting Mars with unconventional transformation. This could be seen as the resource connection Mars needed.

The Clash:

In Taurus, Mars wants control and stability, while Uranus and Algol push for change and upheaval. This can create a lot of inner conflict. There is a strong urge to build something secure, but then Uranus throws a curveball and disrupts your plans.

Implied Outcomes:

  • Destructive: This energy can manifest as anger, aggression, and impulsive decisions. People might lash out or tear it down instead of transforming it.

  • Transformative: Channeling this energy constructively can be a powerful force for change. It breaks patterns for something else to be built on the ashes of the old.

We should remember this when, next, we encounter Algol or other extremely martial and malefic configurations.

This is just a glimpse into the astrological landscape. Your personal experience will be unique and influenced by your birth chart.

Good awareness and blessings to you!
