Lunar Notes: 7/5-21, 2024

I’m writing this on a sunny fourth of July day. The breeze is scented with sweet wood smoke. Premature M-80 blasts occasionally hit near and far. In this strange societal limbo in the U.S. exacerbated by a recent supreme court decision and the discomfort of the approaching election, it feels like the stars of all these obligatory flags could use vexillographic astrological analysis and remediation. Let’s take a look at some of the astrology that will play out over the next half of the Moon cycle.

7/5: Dark Moon in Cancer: Inner Restoration and Emotional Rejuvenation

The Dark Moon, also known as the New Moon, is a time of potent energy for inner healing and rejuvenation. Imagine fertile soil being restored in the darkness – that's the essence of this lunar phase.

July 10: Sun trine Saturn: While the Sun pushes us to shine, Saturn reminds us of boundaries and the effort required to build something lasting. These opposing forces work together: the Sun's potential is focused and shaped by Saturn's structure.

July 11: Venus ingresses into Leo:

Venus is a force of attraction pulling people together. Leo, ruled by the yang sun, is a fixed fire sign. Leo craves a love that reflects its inner fire, a constant source of admiration that fuels spirit. The key to keeping the flame alive is to nurture creativity and celebrate its unique spark.

July 11: Venus trine Neptune: Venus and Neptune, though seemingly different, share a connection. Both deal with emotions, desires, and a yearning for something beyond the ordinary. Venus seeks love and beauty in the tangible world, while Neptune explores the depths of our imagination.

July 12: Venus opposed Pluto: Venus's allure can draw us towards passionate connections, while Pluto's influence can unearth hidden desires and bring about transformation through intense experiences. By understanding both these forces, we can cultivate deeper and more meaningful relationships.

July 15: Mars conjoins Uranus in Taurus: This energetic encounter could spark a sudden urge to break free from routine, embrace innovation, but also lead to impatience and challenges to stability. By embracing new ideas, channeling assertiveness wisely, and staying adaptable,we can navigate this transit and use it to our advantage.

July 20: Mars ingresses into Gemini. Mars, the fiery planet of action and assertion, thrives in energetic Gemini. Here, its focus sharpens to be used interactively, channeling its vigor into communication, debates, and exploration. Expect lively discussions, and they might turn into heated arguments, as we seek to understand and shape the world around us. Think of Mars in Gemini as a blacksmith with a fire fueled by the bellows of words, forging ideas through passionate conversation.

July 21: Mercury square Uranus: Mercury, the swift messenger, embodies communication, travel, and intellectual pursuits. However, his influence is challenged by rebellious Uranus, the planet that disrupts established knowledge with innovation and a willingness to challenge the status quo. They are pushing us to explore and understand the world around us.

July 21: Sun trine Neptune: The Sun, radiating life and power like its namesake, represents our core identity (spirit, identity). It fuels our intelligence, spontaneity, and leadership qualities (intelligence, shining out, animation, spontaneity). Think of it as our inner spark, driving us to express ourselves and illuminate the world around us. Those influenced by the Sun, like natural leaders and performers (children of the Sun), carry this radiant energy within them. However, the Sun can also connect with the dreamy, boundless realm of Neptune (trines Neptune). Here, the Sun's clarity merges with Neptune's dissolving nature, blurring the lines between reality and imagination (unformed real, letting go). This influence can be seen in mystics and dreamers (Children of Neptune) who explore the depths of the unconscious.

July 21: Full Moon in Capricorn

This Full Moon creates a tension between nurturing our emotional needs (Moon) and achieving our goals (Capricorn). However, it also presents an opportunity to build a secure foundation for our emotional well-being through goal achievement.

This Full Moon is a time of culmination, like the peak ripeness of a fruit. It's a chance to see the results of your efforts and solidify your foundation.

The Full Moon in Capricorn bridges the gap between our emotional needs (yin Moon energy) and our drive for achievement (ambitious Capricorn). The Moon signifies our instincts, connection to nature, and the deep well of emotions that form our foundation. Capricorn, on the other hand, is about setting goals, facing challenges, and building a secure future with discipline and strategy. This Full Moon encourages us to harness both energies, nurturing our emotional well-being through goal achievement.

This is just a glimpse into the astrological landscape. Your personal experience will be unique and influenced by your birth chart.

Good awareness and blessings to you!
